Simon Morgan, Head of Sales for Smart Infrastructure at Siemens Pacific Zone, will speak on the first day of TruckShowX and present key areas and considerations regarding the transition to electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Australia.
Siemens is a global leader in the provision of end-to-end fleet electrification solutions, from initial concept development through to grid connection, implementation of charging infrastructure, and tools to ensure all components in the system operate smoothly and efficiently.
Morgan says for the successful economical migration of a fleet from traditional fossil fuels to electricity an operator will need detailed forward planning, understanding many factors including available power supplies, truck charging philosophy, and intended typical routes and vehicle charge rates.
“The move to EV vehicles will take a change of mind set. It will no longer be as simple as leaving the depot with a full tank of fuel and stopping at a local service station when you need to fill up. Charging will take time and require suitable public infrastructure,” he adds.
“Choosing a reliable technology partner for your charging needs will be key to ongoing reliable operation of your electrical fleet.”
Adam Ritzinger, HVIA Chief Technical Officer and TruckShowX Technical Program Manager, says having a presenter from a global market leader share their perspectives on local solutions will make a really impactful session for TruckShowX in 2024.
“Charging infrastructure is a hot topic, and we know that fleets and businesses are very keen to understand their options for small- and large-scale depot transformations. TruckShowX attendees will be able to get this information directly from market leaders,” he says.
A spin-off of the hugely successful Brisbane Truck Show, TruckShowX is set to be the biggest trucking industry decarbonisation event held to date in Australia.
To be held May 13-14, 2024 at RACV Cape Schanck Resort in Victoria, it will explore low and zero-emissions vehicles (LZEV) and technology, and unpack the interconnected ‘ecosystem’ of equipment, infrastructure, services, regulations, policies, and people that must exist for them to work as a solution.
The two-day event will feature keynote presentations from global leaders in LZEV adoption, supported by practical case studies of local operators leading the decarbonisation effort.
Complementing this will be an expo showcasing the latest low- and zero-emissions vehicles and related technologies and, uniquely, a drive-day opportunity to get behind the wheel of the latest LZEVs.
