In a major coup, HVIA has snared Climate Change Authority Member Susie Smith as a keynote speaker for TruckShowX, Australia’s largest-ever transport industry decarbonisation event.
Book your tickets/s here to ensure you don’t miss out on hearing from one of the Australian Government’s key expert advisors on climate change policy.
The Climate Change Authority (CCA) is an independent statutory body established under the Climate Change Authority Act 2011 to provide expert advice to the Australian Government on climate change policy.
Smith was appointed as a member of the Authority in 2021 for a four-year term. She has a wealth of executive and board experience in corporate strategy, climate change and sustainability, and is a highly regarded climate change and sustainability specialist, contributing nationally and internationally.
“Having Susie Smith as a plenary speaker at our flagship low and zero emissions event provides great opportunities, not only to learn how experts are furthering critical decarbonisation discussions at the federal level, but to offer our insights into the challenges our sector faces,” says Dr Adele Lausberg, HVIA’s Chief Advocacy Officer.
To that end, HVIA staff recently spoke to the CCA on transport industry issues as part of their ‘Sectoral Decarbonisation Pathway’ project.
“Increasing engaging with all levels of government and expert advisories such as the Climate Change Authority greatly benefits our members and the wider trucking industry,” Lausberg adds.
“To further that engagement, we are incredibly excited to have Susie Smith as a plenary speaker at TruckShowX.”
A spin-off of the hugely successful Brisbane Truck Show, TruckShowX is set to be the biggest trucking industry decarbonisation event held to date in Australia.
To be staged May 13-14, 2024 at RACV Cape Schanck Resort in Victoria, the two-day event will explore low and zero-emissions vehicles (LZEV) and technology, and unpack the interconnected ‘ecosystem’ of equipment, infrastructure, services, regulations, policies, and people that must exist for them to work as a solution.
The two-day event will feature keynote presentations from global leaders in LZEV adoption, supported by practical case studies of local operators leading the decarbonisation effort.
Complementing this will be an expo showcasing the latest low- and zero-emissions vehicles and related technologies and, uniquely, a drive-day opportunity to get behind the wheel of the latest LZEVs.
TruckShowX is supported by Research Partner National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO), Industry Partner NatRoad, Gold Sponsors NTI, Caltex and Hyzon, Networking Events Partners Geotab, NewVolt and the Container Transport Alliance Australia, Charity Partner Healthy Heads Trucks & Sheds, and Media Partner ROADBOSS.
