Hino Australia will showcase its 300 Series Hybrid Tilt Tray and 300 Series Wide Cab Van Body in TruckShowX’s unique Drive Day Program.

A Toyota-affiliated company, Hino offers a complete range of next-generation light-, medium- and heavy-duty transport solutions, including a range of 300 Series hybrid electric light-duty trucks.

When compared to an equivalent diesel truck, Hino claims a hybrid electric can deliver fuel and emission reductions of up to 20 per cent and reduce yearly maintenance costs by 16 per cent.

A hybrid electric also eliminates any concerns regarding charging facilities and range limitations, the company adds. Models are offered from car-licenced 4.5 tonne GVM, up to medium rigid-licenced 8.5 tonne GVM.

“TruckShowX is all about the zero-emissions ecosystem, and hybrid vehicle technology offers an attractive option for many fleets and sectors,” says Adam Ritzinger, HVIA Chief Technical Officer and TruckShowX Technical Program Manager.

“Hybrid electric trucks feature an electric motor, a battery, and a diesel engine working in parallel, and are able to intelligently apply both to meet the needs of the transport task.

“Some sectors of the industry are concerned about the availability of charging infrastructure, and available driving range for electric trucks. Whilst those will undoubtedly change in the future, hybrid electric vehicles are available right now, offering viable solutions that completely address any concerns in those areas.”

Hino is supporting TruckShowX as both an exhibitor and speaker, with Richard Emery, President and CEO of Hino Trucks Australia, and Daniel Petrovski – Manager, Product Strategy, addressing the event on real-world implementation projects of hybrid trucks in Australia.

“Since I started with Hino two years ago, our focus has been firmly on relaunching and rebranding the 300 Series hybrid electric, which has been delivering savings to Hino customers for over 15 years,” says Emery, who began his role as President and CEO in February.

“The momentum of last year’s hybrid electric delivery record has continued with even more interest from customers in varied applications, and we are confident that 2024 will be another record year.

“Interest in our hybrid electric continues to grow from customers in increasingly varied applications – last year, national rental company Sixt added hybrid electrics to its fleet.

The hybrid electric continues to be a popular choice for customers in the freight, logistics and delivery sectors, and is increasing in popularity with customers in the urban delivery, traffic management and trade markets with the built-to-go products.

TruckShowX driving opportunities will take place on the incredible coastal roads near adjacent to RACV Cape Schanck, which is the event’s spectacular venue. Read more here.

Alongside the driving opportunities, TruckShowX will unpack the interconnected ‘ecosystem’ of equipment, infrastructure, services, regulations, policies, and people that must exist for them to work as a solution.

The two-day event will feature keynote presentations from global leaders in LZEV adoption, supported by practical case studies of local operators leading the decarbonisation effort.
