Battery-electric truck market leader Volvo has joined the TruckShowX program both as a session speaker as well as a participant in the event’s highly-anticipated drive program.

The company’s Vice President of Emerging Technology and Business Development, Paul Illmer, will speak on key considerations and insights for operators considering integrating battery-electric vehicles into their fleets.

Volvo will also offer attendees a unique opportunity to test drive its heavy-duty FMe and medium-duty FLe trucks. TruckShowX driving opportunities will take place on the incredible coastal roads near adjacent to Victoria’s RACV Cape Schanck, which is the event’s spectacular venue.

Illmer says he looks forward to the conversations, debates and discourse that will be part and parcel of an event like TruckShowX.

“Industry and customer awareness is absolutely crucial as the industry moves to further down the zero-emissions path,” he says.

“The more accessible we are on topics such as electromobility, infrastructure and even sustainable fuels the more we can move the needle in this space.”

Adam Ritzinger, HVIA Chief Technical Officer and TruckShowX Technical Program Manager, adds thar Volvo’s long-term commitment to the environment makes the company a perfect match for Australia’s largest-ever transport decarbonisation event.

Care for the environment has been one of Volvo’s core values since the 1970s. In the time that has elapsed since, the Swedish manufacturer has reduced the emission of air pollutants from new Volvo trucks by 90 per cent, and decreased fuel consumption and climate impact by 40 per cent.

“These impressive statistics speak to a long-term commitment to the environment and makes Volvo a perfect match for TruckShowX,” Ritzinger says. “I’m very pleased to announce that Volvo is supporting TruckShowX as both a speaker, exhibitor and participant in the ‘Drive Day’ program.”

Alongside the driving opportunities, TruckShowX will unpack the interconnected ‘ecosystem’ of equipment, infrastructure, services, regulations, policies, and people that must exist for them to work as a solution.

The two-day event will feature keynote presentations from global leaders in LZEV adoption, supported by practical case studies of local operators leading the decarbonisation effort.
