TruckShowX attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear from key government officials and industry leaders shaping regulatory and policy frameworks.
At the top of the bill will be Ian Porter, Strategic Advisor for Net Zero with the Federal Department of Infrastructure and Transport Arts. Porter will discuss Australia’s zero-emissions trucking future in conversation with NatRoad Chair Paul Fellows.
Porter is a 30-year industry veteran of climate change, renewable energy and energy efficiency, with experience covering government policy development and analysis, program design, management and implementation.
His current role as Strategic Advisor to the Federal Government’s Transport and Infrastructure Net Zero Taskforce sees him at the absolute forefront of decarbonisation strategy, governance, and policy in Australia.
Porter sees TruckShowX as an important opportunity to share understanding and gain insights about what is needed to build the xero-emissions ecosystem for the low- and zero-emissions heavy vehicle future in Australia.
“Reducing emissions in the transport sector requires Government and industry to work together to secure long-lasting benefits, while managing and minimising the impacts of the transition,” he says.
“The Government is developing a Transport and Infrastructure Net Zero Roadmap to support this, and this includes looking at the options to reduce carbon emissions in heavy vehicles and support our local industry.”

Joining him on the program will be Melissa O’Brien, Manager of Freight Policy and Strategy at Freight Victoria, who will present on progress toward Victoria’s freight decarbonisation strategy.
Part of the Department of Transport and Planning, Freight Victoria is leading the coordination and delivery of the priorities and actions under the Victorian freight plan – Delivering the Goods.
Importantly, the plan includes fast-tracking Victoria’s shift to net zero-emissions transport powered by clean energy, driving down emissions and sparking new industries that will reinvigorate manufacturing and create jobs.
“Victoria has an ambitious target of reaching zero emissions by 2045 and we know to achieve that goal government needs to work hand-in-hand with industry,” O’Brien says.
“Late last year the Victorian Government brought the freight sector together for a summit to understand the innovations, challenges and opportunities for decarbonisation and how we can support that shift.
“TruckShowX provides us with another opportunity to continue that conversation with industry, test our developing plans for decarbonisation, and collectively consider how we can overcome challenges and create significant change in the freight sector.”

Additionally, TruckShowX’s regulatory stream will feature a number of other key speakers exploring the current and future policy and regulatory barriers to adoption of low- and zero-emissions vehicles. They will include Transport For NSW’s Bianca Slack-Smith and the NHVR’s Peter Austin.
