HVIA is thrilled to announce that Australia’s former Chief Scientist, Dr Cathy Foley, will deliver the opening keynote at TruckShowX 2026.

Dr Foley’s address will focus on quantum technologies, and the enormous opportunity they hold for diverse industries including renewables, transport, mining, sensing and defence.

“The science behind quantum technologies has been advancing for decades, and we’re at a tipping point where real-world applications are arriving quickly. Now is the time to understand what quantum technologies mean for all industry sectors in Australia,” she says.

This conversation is timely and incredibly relevant – Australia will be at the forefront of the development of this new technology, as the Federal and Queensland state governments are investing nearly $1 billion to build the world’s first utility-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer in Brisbane.

Dr Foley served as Australia’s Chief Scientist between 2021 and 2024 and has had an extensive career at Australia’s national science agency, the CSIRO, where she was appointed as the agency’s Chief Scientist in August 2018. Dr Foley currently serves as a CSIRO board member.

She led the development of Australia’s National Quantum Strategy, and is working to lift Australia’s quantum literacy and engagement, in support of the development of a new local quantum industry.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Dr Foley will be delivering the opening keynote at TruckShowX 2026,” Adam Ritzinger, HVIA’s Chief Technical Officer and TruckShowX Program Director, says.

“TruckShowX encourages us to look ahead, and to consider the possibilities outside of the here and now. Quantum technologies hold incredible opportunity. I cannot think of a better topic for our opening keynote in 2026, nor a better match for our conference theme of ‘Driving the Future’.”

You can’t afford to miss the follow-up to 2024’s ground-breaking TruckShowX. The 2026 program will showcase the latest in trucking and transport decarbonisation, and how Australian fleets are improving their bottom line through innovation and technology that improves productivity, efficiency and safety.

To be held on May 18-19, 2026 at Rydges Hunter Valley in regional New South Wales, the program will include an expo showcasing technology, equipment and services across a range of new areas, a unique ‘Drive Day’ opportunity to get behind the wheel of the latest truck models from leading manufacturers, and for the first time, a trailer display.

The program is available here, and tickets can be purchased here.
