The freight transport efficiency session ‘Streamlined Miles’ on day one of TruckShowX 2026 provided an ideal opportunity for Hendrickson and Freighter Group to unveil new truck and trailer products soon to be available to the Australian market.

Hendrickson, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of medium- and heavy-duty mechanical, elastomeric, and air suspension for trucks and trailers took the opportunity to present ‘ELECTRAAX’, a high-efficiency, lightweight electric drive axle designed for medium-duty trucks and buses.

The new e-axle was created in partnership with Driventic, the efficiency and sustainability focussed drive axle manufacturer from Germany. It can be used to increase vehicle range or reduce battery size demands for light- and medium-duty applications, in applications calling for axle capacities of up to 10 tonnes.

ELECTRAAX integrates the complete axle, a gearbox, the electric motor and an inverter into a single optimised system, saving weight and freeing up space for other equipment.

The electric motor itself features a peak power level of 320kW, peak torque of 18,050Nm, and up to 100 per cent motor torque regeneration to maximise energy recovery. Further preliminary information is available on Hendrickson’s product launch website.

Freighter Group, the leading trailer manufacturer (previously known as MaxiTRANS), took the TruckShowX opportunity to launch ‘DryX’, a new dry freight van solution designed from the ground up for telematics-first logistics, which will be available to order from Q4 2026.

While it features unique recessed logistic tracks, to maximise internal volume and freight protection, the star of the show is its integration with the ‘TrailerConnect’ telematics platform. TrailerConnect features an intelligent sensor network for monitoring trailers and their cargo, and communications via GPS and mobile technologies.

It offers operators the chance to modernise the trailer maker’s fleet management approach by accessing telematics data via one central platform, allowing an increase in uptime using live data from vehicles. Fuel usage, temperature control, and electronic brake system (EBS) data can all be monitored. Further information is available on the Freighter product website.
