New Zealand trucking operator HW Richardson is set to showcase its in-house hydrogen fuel injection conversion system at TruckShowX 2026.
The company, which is one of NZ’s largest privately owned transport companies, has developed its own highly-innovative dual-fuel hydrogen injection system, and is now offering it to the market under the Change Fuel Technologies banner.
The unique hydrogen injection system offers up to 50 per cent emissions reduction in a 7-10 minute refuelling time.
In addition, the system is flexible, in that like other dual-fuel systems it can seamlessly continue to operate on 100 per cent conventional diesel should hydrogen be unavailable. Unlike some emissions reduction options, the Change Fuel Technologies system has minimal to no impact on payload.
A Change Fuel Technologies vehicle will be exhibited and offered for test drives at TruckShowX, and Gareth Wishart, HW Richardson’s General Manager of Technology and Innovation, will present on the system in the conference, and the outcome of recent trials with Australian and New Zealand operators.
“By integrating our dual-fuel technology, we’re not just cutting emissions but also setting a new standard for the industry,” says Gareth.
“Our dual-fuel systems are designed to be retrofitted into existing fleets, making the transition to hydrogen more efficient. We’re excited to help our mates from over the ditch work towards a cleaner carbon footprint!”
